Hello, my name is Jessica Fraleigh, and this is my story.

I was born in the small town of Fort McMurray, the fourth child in a bustling household of six siblings. Growing up, life was always an adventure, but it was also fraught with challenges that left deep scars. My childhood was painted with vibrant memories, yet beneath the surface lay a tapestry woven with threads of emotional, physical, sexual and spiritual abuse. With little guidance and no mentors to illuminate my path, I often felt lost in a world filled with pain and confusion.

The weight of my circumstances became a heavy cloak I wore throughout my youth. Each day tested my resilience, and every challenge reminded me of the battles I fought silently. The chaos of my home life seeped into my soul, creating a void that felt impossible to fill. At just 21 years old, I welcomed my first child into this tumultuous existence—a moment that should have been filled with joy but instead deepened my struggle.

As the years rolled on, I found myself entangled in the throes of addiction, a harsh mistress that promised solace but delivered only despair. For two long decades, I danced with darkness, caught in a relentless cycle of destruction. Each day blurred into the next, a haunting repetition where hope flickered like a distant star, always just out of reach. Surrounded by chaos, I sought refuge in the very thing that was dragging me down, unaware that the path I walked was a labyrinth of my own making.

With the unwavering support of my partner, I made a choice—a choice to reclaim my life. The decision to get clean and sober was not a simple one; it was a battle fought against the demons that had haunted me for so long.
